Can you already greet someone in French, count to 20 and order yourself a bar snack and a drink?
Great, then this is the French course for you. Ready to take you through the steps to get speaking in French again and moving along nicely into longer conversations, your tutor, Natasha, welcomes you.
In six weeks, you will take part in French conversations with classmates and Natasha with the aim of building your confidence and range of conversations.
In this particular class, you will focus on talking to waiting staff to get more information about the food you’re ordering, ordering what you DO like and not what you don’t as well as talk to them a little more in depth about you, them, your trip or the local area.
You’ll also explore the area and develop your direction-asking skills and public transport dialogue to ensure you get around a little better. Your conversations asking the locals for the way will be a little more adventurous than “Où est la banque ?” and you will be able to encourage the other person to speak to you in French that is more conducive to a productive FRENCH conversation as opposed to the “lentement, s’il vous plaît” request by many a beginner, which can result in the French speaker resorting to their English.
From your tutor, you can expect correction on pronunciation, to develop your confidence boosting accent and plenty of feedback, as well as lots of opportunity to practise speaking, as class numbers are kept low.
The session opens with tea and coffee while everyone gets settled and, starts to exchange basic conversation to get things warmed up. The group then progresses to demonstrate any homework dialogues, this is a great revision of the previous week, especially for those who don’t have time for homework, or who missed the previous week. We move to the new conversations and content for the lesson and get practical. At the end, you’re given a choice of activities of varying length to suit your schedule to take away with you until next time.
